In 2013 I started slimming world and was close to getting to my target of 3 stone. I started to enjoy running but on my own it was hard to motivate myself and became very boring. I drove past a running group every time I went to slimming world. I was nervous but decided to give it a go and turned up. Everyone was so welcoming and I loved the fact that nobody gets left behind. I’ve reached my weight loss target and running is a part of my life. Stokefit has played a massive part in getting me where I am today. I would recommend anyone who wants to become more active to put that nervousness aside and come along. There are people of all abilities running every week. I guarantie you will be hooked after the first week! Thankyou stoke fit

Some time ago my doctor diagnosed me with diabetes and told me to get more exercise, at the time I didn’t run or play any sports but I would walk often and was not afraid to exercise. So I took up running and most mornings before work I would go for a run all by myself. Approximately 6 months later I could manage 2 miles but still very slow and no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t seem to improve. Then I joined Stoke FIT and amazingly within 4 weeks I could run 6 miles and at a much faster pace. Read More…

I was recommended to join stoke f.i.t by at least 3 people when trying to lose weight and get healthy. I was doing it alone with the help of slimming world and had reached a plateau in my journey. I came to the circuits for the first time and 1 of the members met me outside to help my nerves. Quite a few of the members said Read More…

I joined Stoke FIT with a friend. It was something she wanted to do and wanted a bit of moral support. If I’m being brutally honest, the plan was to go with her for 2 weeks, once she was settled in I was going to make my excuses and never return. Thankfully that plan never came together. From the first day I could see what a lovely group of people were there. There was absolutely no pressure and the expectation was ” you’ve turned up, whether you walk, jog, run or anything in between it’s fine”.  Read More…

At the beginning of 2012 I tipped the scales at the heaviest I had ever been. I had just joined the gym and wanted to get fitter and healthier for the sake of my kids, I didn’t want to be the dad you couldn’t run around the park  because I was out of breath easily. Despite this I lacked the motivation to go to the gym on my own and push myself. I lost some weight through eating a bit better but this alone was not going to help my fitness.

I have known Frank for long time, Read More…

This is Sami’s second testimonial, to read her first, please click here.

At the age of 14 I was diagnosed with depression, some say it’s hereditary, some say it’s a learned trait, either way there it was. Over the many years I have tried various things, happy pills, herbal remedies, ignoring it, allowing myself to some dark places (this wasn’t very nice at all) but now I think I have learned to manage it.

Certain times of year seem to be my triggers, season changes being a regular one to cause my mood dips but Christmas is my killer. Read More…

I have been running for around 5 years and got quite serious about it over the last couple of years. In June last year I suffered an injury and lost my way with training and work! I pushed myself again but had another set back. Frank, who I had done a bit of running with before, invited me to run with this group to boost my confidence. I can’t always run with the group due to work commitments, but what Stoke FIT has done for me is help me enjoy running again with some fantastic people. Frank and Gregg are so enthusiastic, knowledgeable and committed to this club – how could anyone not get motivated and enjoy running. It’s a real pleasure to be part of this wonderful club.
