How to do the plank

The plank is a fantastic beginner’s excerise to help tone up the muscles of the abdominals and core.

Start with trying to hold the position for 10 seconds each time and try a few times throughout the day.

Once you can do 10 seconds comfortably, gradually increase the time that you can hold it for.

To do the plank;

  • maintain a straight rigid line from ankles right up to shoulders.
  • Relax your head.  Don’t worry about looking forward, don’t check to see what position your body is in.
  • Keep your bum down.
  • Squeeze in your bum and your stomach muscles to help you keep a good posture and hold the position for longer.
  • Enjoy it!
